reverse engineered a 3d printed model of a cannon from a medieval castle. all the parts were made in my precision machine shop or my carpenter shop using the 3d printed model as a guide. the cannon I made is in no way an exact replica. I took artistic liberty where I wanted for ascetic or practical purposes.

    If you dont have a reamer you can often get away with drilling 1/64 undersized and then following up with the target sized drill bit. This isn't as accurate as a reamer but is often sufficient..

      @spinesales if you can justify the cost you can get some really nice adjustable reamers. I have 1/4-5/8 and they come in handy very often.

    You ever see the back of the receiver wore from the bolt luggs hitting back there on the recoil of the shot and eat up the receiver where you can't get the bolt to go back forward till you take it apart is tig welding the receiver an option an putting on a mill to open the groves where the bolt and that bar rides

      @@carliedejarnett5022 I've not seen that but I believe it. Those receivers are super soft. Probably not a good idea to weld the receiver though because it will probably get brittle around the heat effected area of the weld

      @@spinesales all the pressure is in the barrel and bolt like an AR I can't see tig welding it causing tgat much heat on the aluminum or the steel receiver myself

    making some for exact same application ~ bandsaw tension. gonna make a form tool or/and radius cutting jig for the tops then knurl the edges. size +/- 2.5”

    Can't thank you enough for that lead screw removal! I was trying to avoid that by removing the mounting bracket from the lead screw on the tailstock end, but it would not budge. Seems easier to just remove the roll pin. Thank you again!

      Naaa it didn't go bad just didn't record it. Sorry about that. They weren't anything spectacular. Accuracy was what you'd expect out of a security six. I wanted to catch some in wet news paper but being a one man show, sometimes get to do what I want and sometimes not.

      @spinesales man, I still wish you'd reconsider milling a set of dies for my Little Giant Power Hammer. Milling off the little bit to make them flat again left the dies too low. They just don't work well.

    I have a towmotor 392s. The fork stops are made like c's and uses two holes. One on either side of the fork so the fork dont slide in or out. If your forks are spread out your only stoping it from moving in one direction. Just fyi

    Not sure if you re-installed that shop-made collar around the anvil. I hope you didn't. It may have been there for some special tooling dies the previous owner used. But it's not original. I didn't see a part six, but would love to see how Mike is using it now. I restored my LG 25lb last year. I also attended a rebuild workshop that LG puts on now. I hear they are going to host it again there in southeast Nebraska. I do plan on attending again. I have dies to buy so I'll buy them then.

    This would have been soo much easier than the way I tore mine apart 😅 I am pretty sure the gear that engages the worm on mine is made of plastic though. I crashed into the chuck with the autofeed engaged and stripped like 2-3 teeth on it and it was enough to kill the autofeed when it got to those teeth. So to “fix” it I flipped the gear around so it would bias the less worn side and its working… for now. Gonna try this method next time for sure 😅

    I'm surprised you bottomed the ram out with that drill there, that doesn't seem like a very deep hole! Is it possible to adjust the ram to get more travel?

      I had the screw set for 1/2" depth

    What a great overview of a very complex machine. With that being said I can clearly see where these have a place in many shops to compliment a1st op. Machine. This would definitely be a learning curve to someone new to this, but once you got dialed in boy oh boy the time it could save and the consistency would be incredible. Great video and well explained, thanks for taking the time to break it down!

    Don't forget to keep the lead clean. If it's oxidised or oily it won't plate properly

      @@spinesales dang it, I had a feeling it was specifically for resizing/lubing. Idk why no one besides RCBS, with their Summit, has figured out a way for a downward-moving ram. Anyway, thank you for making all of the videos. I saved them and plan to give it a shot in the near future.

    Beautiful part. My first thought on it was to drill a hole in the 11/16 boxed end wrench and put a set screw in it to lock it on the nut. I own the Hardinge Chucker HC
